Software

Almost all digitization requires equalization software since the process is moving from analog to digital. There are a few products available that can assist you with you equalization needs for Edison Diamond Discs.

-Diamond Cut productions provide a product called DC7, a complete audio restoration and editing/mastering program.
They also have a full suite of applications including DC live forensics which can assist you in your digitization needs. Please consult thier website for more information

-For an alternative (and free!) solution, you may want to consider consulting the Sound Directions website of the Loeb Music Library at Harvard University. This is joint venture with Indiana University Archives of Traditional Music, and includes a Field Audio Collection Evaluation Tool (FACET), an open-source tool for ranking field collections based on their condition.

The Sound Directives toolkit is an open-source suite of 46 software applications that enable audio engeneers to streamline the preservation process and remove the likelyhood of human error.

The following PDF is embeded for your reference, which outlines best practices and guidelines for using the tool.
